A personal health budget is an amount of money to support someone’s health and wellbeing needs, which is planned and agreed between the individual or their representative, and the local Integrated Care Board (NHS Gloucestershire).
The following people in Gloucestershire may be offered a personal health budget, in line with Government ‘right to have’ legislation:
- People in the community who are eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare
- People who meet the eligibility criteria of the Gloucestershire Wheelchair service
- People who are eligible for after-care services under section 117 of the Mental Health Act.
The ICB Policy on Personal Health Budgets can be accessed here.
Clinicians may also offer personal health budgets to others that they feel may benefit from the additional flexibility and control, where statutory and community services are unable to meet this need.
